Knowing how many people have yet to experience the Poison Idea-meets-the Village People glory of Norway’s mighty Turbonegro, it’s unfortunate that someone didn’t come up with the Alpha Motherfuckers salute while the denim dunderheads were still a threat. Instead, Nashville Pussy, the Supersuckers, Zeke, Queens of the Stone Age, the Dwarves, Therapy? and 20 other assorted thug rockers and scuzz-metal units from Scandinavia to Spain pay their last respects to the departed Turbonegro by trying to play their anally fixated anthems faster and noisier. Nothing here tops the roar of the apocalyptic dudes themselves. But the fact that even weeds like Scared of Chaka and Hot Water Music kick out the jams is testament to the awesome corruptive power of Turbonegro.
