Barbershop 2: Back in Business (OST-Interscope) Rating: NNN

Somebody had their eye on the financial prize when they came up with the idea of popsters like Chingy, G-Unit, Eve, Sean Paul and OutKast contributing songs to this soundtrack. A few names seem thrown on, like Olivia, who adds two songs and yet nothing to the proceedings. Clipse’s battle rap, Pussy, is decent Neptunes-driven solidity, and OutKast’s I Can’t Wait, featuring Sleepy Brown, trumps The Way You Move. Beyond that, Mos Def and Floetry flip the Microphone Fiend beat with originality on Wanna B Where U R (Thisizzalovesong), and Spitfiya contributes the solid if Black Album-influenced track Make It Home. With almost every song a rap/R&B collabo, it’s like having a commercial urban radio station with swearing on one handy CD.
