Beyond Good And Evil

Rating: NN

With nothing much to lose, you’d think the Cult would be ready to take some risks. Not a chance. They’ve gone the other way with Beyond Good And Evil, enlisting mullet-metal guru Bob Rock to try to recreate the classic Cult sound of 87’s Rick Rubin-produced Electric. Ultimately, they settle on remaking Sonic Temple, with a game but weary Ian Astbury bellowing Wolf-Child wails about sorcerers, ghosts and various bedevilments like a man who knows not the meaning of self-parody. The Cult drop by the Warehouse Saturday (June 2).
