BIG BILL MORGANFIELD

Rating: NN

BIG BILL MORGANFIELD Ramblin’ Mind (Blind Pig) Rating: NN

If you’ve ever wondered what Muddy Waters might’ve sounded like with the lyrics wiped clean of any suggestion of drinking, gambling, killing or fornicating, and recorded on the floor of a dentist’s office, Big Bill Morganfield’s well-sanitized Ramblin’ Mind is the answer. He’s a competent growler and guitar stylist in a throwback post-war Chicago style, but laying down 14 different ways of saying he’s lonely — without a single nasty note — doesn’t make for an exciting listen. Check out Morganfield’s politically correct version of the blues at the Silver Dollar Saturday (May 4).
