BIONIC

bIONIC Deliverance (Sound King) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN

After a few lineup changes, Montreal’s Bionic have finally settled on something wicked. Admittedly, when track one kicked in, all screams and hardcore, I had to take out the CD to check that I was listening to the right one, but after that Deliverance levels out to offer a full run of sweet rock. This blues-based punk, with catchy guitars, strong vocals and at times impressive drum kicks, straddles the moat between hero worship and originality without once passing into the familiar. And that’s the greatest thing about this record. You’ve heard it all before, but have you heard it from Bionic?
