BLEED THE SKY Murder The Dance (Nuclear Blast) Rating: NNN
Hearing that this California five-piece basically recorded this record while drunk kept my expectations pretty low. But after a few spins, it's safe to say that Murder The Dance is actually a slightly above-average offering that at times produces some unique sounds - not an easy feat within the confines of metalcore.
Cohesive, rock-solid production courtesy of Fear Factory's Christian Olde, and guest vocals from Audkik's Jeremy Hall balance the band's admitted instability (they're one of those groups that have more former than current members). Fans of Operth and Threat Signal should definitely give Murder The Dance a chance.
Bleed the Sky wreck the Annex Wreck Room Wednesday (August 20).
