The ever-evolving Bohren have always been a bit tricky to pin down. From ambient to minimalist film-noiresque compositions to dark jazz with subtle nods to doom, the German instrumental quartet does not repeat itself.
On their sixth, they progress toward the ethereal with a collection that wades through dark, melancholic and brooding jazz fleshed out with strangely gloomy organ and vibes. For the most part, the songs have a wonderfully haunting beauty; if you're looking for something to put on some lonely, miserable evening as you contemplate your various failings in life, this should do just fine.
