BONDE DO ROLE

Rating: NNN

Diplo’s Brazilian friends Bonde Do Rolê buy some time until their next album with this EP of remixes and a few new tracks. At 10 tracks, you have to wonder why they didn’t combine the UK and U.S. versions into a full album of odds and ends, and you hope it isn’t a cynical ploy to get diehard fans to buy both.

The new songs are fun but not mindblowing. There’s less guitar, which might explain why these songs are here with the remixes rather than on the album. Of the remixes, Architecture in Helsinki’s is the weakest, the Fake Blood mix the most dance-floor-ready, CSS’s the most fun and Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya’s the weirdest. It’s all rounded out by contributions by Ladytron and Peaches, who do pretty much exactly what you’d expect.
