Beloved Juno-nominated Scartown hiphop quartet Brassmunk have tightened their game since 2003's Dark Sunrise. Agile's minimalist, year-2017-funk production lives up to the album's title; and Reign, whose resonant baritone and grim lyrical edge provides a good balances to the group's levity, has replaced MC May 19. The Erick Sermon-like bump of the wisecracking, Kardinal-featured Say Uh? is the most familiar Brassmunk. Elsewhere, Fewturistic focuses on uplift, reflection and relaxation. The album's length makes it inconsistent, though. Experiments like alt-rock-future-Parliament number Do You Believe should have stayed in the lab - they don't belong with refined gems like One Too Many Problems.
