Bryan Adams

Rating: NN

Like Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams is one of those artists who are better in retrospect or hindsight. Like, really far behindsight. When Cuts Like A Knife and Reckless came out in 83 and 84 respectively, I couldn’t have cared less, but now I think they rock. While the cheesy love tunes from the 90s aren’t tolerable yet, I believe they might get there someday. But I don’t think Room Service will improve with age. It’s boring, mid-tempo, adult contemporary rock that doesn’t bother to try and shake anything up, and it’s neither emotionally nor lyrically compelling enough to compensate (not that we expected any brilliant insights). Diehard Adams fans may appreciate this, but I wouldn’t know.
