Now the archetype of dad-friendly Can-rock, Bryan Adams delivers another just solid enough offering of more of the same on 11, his 10th studio album. Diehard fans will be relieved to know that Adams does absolutely nothing new on this record, which is packed to the gunwales with tried-and-true pop-rock riffage.
However, in his quest to be as inoffensive as possible, Adams descends to mind-numbing lyrics that are ridiculously obvious, like “Oxygen, every day, I can’t live without it, don’t take it away.” Right on, man! I like breathing, too! Oxygen rules! What happened to juxtapositions like knife cuts that feel so right?
