All the advance hype about this new Busta Rhymes recording was about how he was gathering choice beats from Jay Dee, Swizz Beatz, Green Lantern and Timbaland and hooking up with Nas, Raekwon and Q-Tip to cook up a game-changing classic with Dr. Dre. If so, The Big Bang must be the session outtakes, because there's nothing remotely bangin' about it. Track after dead-ass track leaves you waiting for something to explode or at least sizzle, but only the Missy Elliott collabo How We Do It Over Here comes close to catching fire. The bored-sounding Busta maintains an unusually low-key flow, throwing out lightweight jabs reiterating how everyone else is inferior, as if he's rhyming while seated behind a mahogany desk. Considering the expensive talent involved, this is a colossal disappointment.
