BUTTA BABIES

BUTTA BABIES Urban Elo (Dustytracks/Bandit Entertainment) Rating: NN

Rating: NNN

All the right elements are in place: live-sounding, earthy-ass beats and the mos righteous Manchilde and Zip-Loks flowing through a 20-song-thick LP. But like a prostitute on strike, I’m just not feeling it. At the end of 64 minutes and 21 seconds, I’m not entertained, enlightened, uplifted or even amused. On record, these guys have no sense of humour. With the exception of the uncommonly hot DJ Premier-ish track Love, with a bright piano beat that outshines all the vague consciousness, this album will makes you feel like you’re not true enough to hiphop. Butta Babies play the El Mocambo tonight (Thursday March 18).
