Dan Snaith isn’t fooling around with this DVD. If you’re a fan, there’s no way you’re going to be disappointed by its 16 videos, four unreleased songs and a mega-mix of most of the videos (all done by Dublin-based animators Delicious 9). The visuals have a charming homemade quality that’s also reflected in the music both could have been made in an apartment on an average computer (and likely were). This is the new digital psych-folk – trippy enough to work with the late-night joints that will likely precede viewing it but clever enough to stand up the next day over coffee. There’s a lot of recycling of characters and images, but in this context that makes for a more cohesive experience, something most music video DVDs are sadly unable to deliver.
