Carl Henry is a sugary-sweet R&B singer from Montreal who’s got his sights set on bigger things. On his RNB debut album, it’s obvious he’s aiming more for the mainstream urban market than for the conscious neo-soul crowd, so what you get is falsetto crooning ornamented with silky layered harmonies over angular new-school R&B beats. It’s well executed, but not particularly original or striking. Carl Henry appears at Revival Friday (January 24).
