The main problem with mix tape fixture Cassidy’s mostly Swizz Beat-produced debut is the structure. After the decent gangsta intro, the album is divided into various facets of Cassidy’s alleged style. The first four songs are R&B collaborations. While the single Hotel is blessed by ridiculously catchy work from enfant terrible R. Kelly, the other three songs sound samey. The record’s other sections are hit-and-miss efforts that fail to distinguish Cassidy from most other MCs, but guest appearances by Styles P and Jadakiss, along with a few shining production gems, make for a few worthwhile songs. Next time, Cassidy, see a psychiatrist and get less musically schizophrenic. And sell me some Xanax if the doctor prescribes it to you.
