CAUGHT IN THE WEBB

CAUGHT IN
THE WEBB A Tribute To The
Legendary Webb Pierce (Audium/KOCH)
Rating: NNN Rating: NNN

One of the most colourful characters from the golden era of country music, Webb Pierce is as fondly remembered today for his outlandish custom cars and guitar-shaped swimming pool as for his string of honky-tonk hits through the 50s that dealt openly with alcoholism and adultery. The Caught In The Webb tribute disc gives Pierce’s legend short shrift (there are no accompanying biographical notes), but the excellent contributing cast, including George Jones, Willie Nelson and Charley Pride from the old guard as well as BR5-49, Kevin Welch and Robbie Fulks, makes up for it. The chance to hear Guy Clark roar through Honky Tonk Song and Del McCoury wail through I’m Walking The Dog is too good to miss.
