Bottomley is a bass player and percussionist with a three-pronged fixation on jazz, funk and dub. This two-CD album is a sprawling, spacey collection of jams, some refreshingly alien-sounding but some a little too close to the standard jazz-funk shuffle. It’s good trippy music, but editing it down to a single disk would have made it tighter and less repetitive. Bottomley launches his disc Wednesday (February 11) at the Mod Club Theatre.
