Christmas In Canada

Rating: NN

It’s Christmastime, and you know what that means – time to round up your favourite adult contemporary artists, throw them on a CD singing traditional Xmas tunes and watch the dough roll in. That’s what EMI’s done this year, but the label’s given this money-grabbing practice a Canadian bent.

On Christmas In Canada, a number of your baby boomer parents’ favourite artists, including Anne Murray, Rita MacNeil, Molly Johnson and Frank Mills, belt out standards like Silent Night, The First Noel and Oh Holy Night. This disc is pure cheese, and it’s recommended anyone with any sort of taste in music stay far, far away. But, if you know a 50-something who digs Shaye and Amy Sky singing the same old Christmas standards, then it’s an easy holiday gift.
