Those already up to speed with C’mon’s unbroken string of hard and fast boogie rock blasts are likely less concerned with the new album title’s suggestion of a three-way concept salute to Asia, Killah Priest and Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush than with whether or not it rocks. Happily, I can report that In The Heat Of The Moment does indeed rock righteously with all the sweaty beard and dirty denim gusto that the supercharged Toronto thud trio of Ian Blurton, Katie Lynn Campbell and Randy Curnew can muster. The tag team production duo of Al P (DFA 1979) and Daryl Smith (Sloan) wisely stay out of the way, making sure the ribbon microphones are properly capturing every cowbell clang and letting the roaring C’mon locomotive roll on. Still not a single weepy ballad in sight.
