In the age of digital, it's increasingly rare to hear a heavy rock recording that hits with the whump of C'mon's latest album-length triumph over Pro Tools tyranny.
New drummer Dean Dallas Bentley (Damn 13, All Systems Go) is providing the pounding thrust that may be exactly what the group's terrifying tandem of singer/guitarist Ian Blurton and bassist Katie Lynn Campbell need to push them over the top.
Wisely enough, there's nothing too fancy here, just relentless cascades of badass riffs over a pulverizing rhythm pulse that makes most of the recent releases by their heavy rock contempories sound like the twee tinkering of emo weeds.
Were they based in Stockholm or Osaka instead of Toronto, you'd see a helluva lot more dudes with C'mon tattoos and van murals. www.thisiscmon.com.
