The third disc from Coal Chamber, Dark Days is another dark, angry, one-dimensional industrial/goth/nouveau-metal offering full of limited riffage, snarling “I am a scary monster” vocals and tedious lyrics. Yes, front-dude Mr. Fafara has returned to the growl after an attempt at some singing on the more experimental Chamber Music that was only slightly less forgettable. Their sound, which put them at the forefront of a genre, is now dangerously close to rehash. Coal Chamber is stuck up its own mineshaft.
