CPC GANGBANGS

Rating: NNNN

Just as most musicians fancy themselves in films, many screen actors harbour rock star fantasies, so it’s no great shock to find Paul Spence (aka Deaner from FUBAR) fronting Montreal scuzz rockers CPC Gangbangs. What’s surprising is that their new Mutilation Nation disc isn’t just good for an actor’s band – this shit roars like a muthafucker.

Put aside whatever misconceptions you might have about Spence based on the roles he’s played, and get ready to be knocked flat by the devastating wallop of CPC Gangbangs’ scorching guitar scree, a distorted and deranged return to the over-amped nihilism of early Stooges and Dead Boys. Hopefully, Iggy Pop is listening and taking notes.

CPC Gangbangs rock the Silver Dollar August 16.
