Culture World Peace (Heartbeat) Rating: NN
Let's face it - Joseph Hill is Culture, and while the roots reggae icon might believe that he's still the same singer who cut classics like Two Sevens Clash, the truth is that his voice is ragged, his songwriting vision gone. He sounds like he's punching the roots reggae clock. World Peace is a well-meaning set of deep roots, but it's infuriatingly bland, better suited for cruise ships than revolution. Hill might murmur on about battling Babylon and freeing the slaves, but he sounds more like he'd rather be buttering his toast. Track yourself down a copy of 79's International Herb instead.
