Perhaps inspired by playing the sidekick on Gord Downie’s recent solo spin, Dale Morningstar — the hoser genius behind Dinner Is Ruined — takes a second crack at doing it himself with I Grew Up On Sodom Road. It’s a given that Morningstar has the upper hand on Downie in the humour department, but what’s more important, he has an endearing fearlessness about looking foolish. Morningstar comes off like a stoner savant at the piano, fumbling his way through creaky lullabies to bees, kite flying and long-distance relationships. Anything can happen when Dale Morningstar puts on a solo exhibition at the Cameron House Monday (June 24).
