On this, their fourth album, it was a safe bet that the three-piece would deliver more loud, charged hard rock full of crunching guitars on overdrive and Danko Jones’s commanding, gravelly vocals.
Still channelling the bravado, sexual energy and swagger of KISS, Jones and backing band stay close to their comfort zone, digging in their heels to see just how much of a rock record they could crank out.
The results don’t disappoint. Songs like Let’s Get Undressed, Code Of The Road and Something Better are all raucous, engaging and stadium-sized. There may not be a whole lot of surprises in the future of Danko Jones’s sound, but if they keep getting to the point the way they do here, that won’t be an issue.
