Danny Michel Tales From The Invisible Man (Maple Music) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN

The title of this excellent new disc by prolific singer/songwriter Danny Michel seems particularly apt, since our man Danny disappeared into the country near Guelph and spent much of the past two years creating a beautifully varied power pop masterpiece. Sweet but never bitter, his lyrical storytelling hits like the best kind of sonic young adult novel. He spins sun-drenched vignettes about ogling bikini babes at the cottage with the folks and getting tangled in 8-track headphone cords on a rec room shag rug. The details dazzle you, as does Michel’s m&eacutelange of organic guitar strumming with weird Commodore 64 bleeps and hooky neo-New Wave 80s pop.
