DAVE NAVARRO

Rating: NN

When you’re a name-brand sideman like former Chili Pepper and Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, it’s easy to rope in folks like Jon Brion, Matt Chamberlain, Danny Saber and Brendan O’Brien to accompany your sonic nervous breakdown. That doesn’t mean it’ll be any good, though. Trust No One features Navarro working through his rock-star dysfunctions by regurgitating the bland power-chord rock he’s played in the past and throwing in a baffling slog through Venus In Furs for good measure. If recycling alt-rock clichés makes him feel better about past groupie and drug excesses, more power to him, but Navarro could have saved himself further embarrassment by not letting this get past the home demo stage.
