This debut album from Delta Goodrem, the 18-year-old knockout alt-pop (with emphasis on the pop) Australian television princess, holds the record as the second-longest-running number-one album in Australian chart history. Piano-laden (almost every song is slathered with the sound of ivory-tinkling) and catchy as sin, this album, if marketed properly in North America, would kill on Billboard. Can’t really tell exactly how computer-altered her voice is, and the songs are sunny to the max – right in step with her lovey-dovey optimism – but it’s ultimately a slickly designed pop album, the sonic equivalent of Michelle Branch on MDMA.
