If Canadians embraced Aboriginal music as they have indie rock or Celine Dion, we’d have a ton of talented new artists to champion. One of them would be Derek Miller, a prolific guitarist who has a penchant for dirty blues and blaring riffs.
His straightforward rock ’n’ roll has been making waves in the wider music market – EMI recently picked up the album – and it’s easy to see why. Picture a louder, younger, suit-wearing Kid Rock and all the good (and bad) that comes with that. Miller’s brash and obnoxious, he sings about getting his share of women on Girls!, but he’s also having a great time, and it shows.
