Last year, this promising quartet from Regina signed to American indie Jade Tree, home to Pedro the Lion and tons of other emo acts. The band was hot, and then a few months after the release of their debut EP, they unfortunately did the collapse and broke up. Too bad, cuz Despistado had a knack for writing jumpy, shouty indie punk that never got too jock and stayed on the thinking person’s tip. On this posthumously released LP, their detached, math-inspired noise rumbles on, but the attack is focused and the playing tighter. Considering these guys were barely legal, it woulda been interesting to hear what they did next. A fitting swan song.
