DIANA KRALL

Rating: NN

The biggest surprise about Diana Krall’s inevitable slide into easy listening with The Look Of Love — on which she blandly purrs tired romance standards like Besame Mucho and Cry Me A River over saccharine strings — is that she’s still credited with playing piano, however inconsequential her flowery little fills may be. Fans who buy her records for the cover art can rest assured, however, that it won’t be long before Krall is standing before a microphone. There’s only so much leg you can show off when seated at a Steinway.
