Diplo’s addition to the consistently excellent Fabric DJ mix series has been hotly anticipated, fuelled in part by his work with MIA. Sure enough, he turns in an eclectic, fun party mix, veering from Miami bass to Brazilian baile funk, with a few detours through Dirty South hiphop, the Cure and Le Tigre. Unfortunately, this is exactly what we expect from him, and there are no surprises here unless you count how rough some of the transitions sound. On the one hand, that proves that this disc hasn’t been doctored up in the studio, but when you’re buying a commercially released mix, you expect something less blatantly sloppy.
