It’s a relief to discover that LiCK 1.0 – the first in a series of three EPs – is just as much fun as DiRTY RADiO’s live show, albeit with an extra dose of the futuristic sounds we’ve come to expect from the Vancouver electro-R&B trio of multi-instrumentalists.
And though it’s not immediately apparent (their sound is definitely dancier), lead singer Farshad “Shaddy” Edalat does recall a Justified-era Justin Timberlake.
Current single In My Head is singable spunky electro-pop peppered with those farty blasts of base usually paired with cold air at a sweaty club.
All Nighter is a twinkly slow jam with laser beams blasting in the background, evoking some kind of inter-spatial forbidden love. If this were Grade 7, I’d be lugging my combined CD/tape player into my bed, plugging in my earphones and hitting repeat. Hell, I’m still doing it now.
