Disc review: De La Nature Des Foules by Bonjour Brumaire

Rating: NNNN

Thanks to Malajube, more and more English-speaking Canucks are stocking their music collections with francophone indie rock. So don’t be surprised when Montreal’s Bonjour Brumaire find a place on your iPod.[briefbreak][rssbreak]

The group, produced by Malajube’s Ryan Battistuzzi, isn’t as loud and brash as their Quebecois mates, but their straight-up rock is nearly as exciting. While the record’s 13 tracks are all worthy of a spin, it’s the riff-happy Argelès and the Mando Diao-ish rock tune Brooklyn that really stand out.

Like Malajube, Bonjour Brumaire’s music transcends the French/English-language divide. In other words, it doesn’t matter if you can’t understand what they’re saying they still make it easy to sing along.
