Disc review: Never Never Love by Pop Levi

Rating: NNNN

Pop Levi is one mysterious dude. The one-time bass player for Ladytron is also a founding member of Liverpool-based avant-industrialists Super Numeri and a prolific remixer. Never Never Love finds him delivering another intriguing mix of electro production and 70s glam rock sounds.

But instead of merely finding one sound that melds both styles, on this record he progresses unpredictably from well-produced beat-driven offerings like the club-ready title track to weird Wayne Coyne-ish fare like the schmaltzy cocaine piano-ballad Calling Me Down and the tropical Call The Operator.
