Album reviews Music

Discovery

Rating: NNN

Discovery consists of Vampire Weekend keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot singer/keyboardist Wes Miles. It makes sense, then, that LP is an electronic synth-pop record.

Taking its cues from the Russian Futurists, LP’s a glittering electro gift reminiscent of the Postal Service. It’s low on ear-?splitting outbreaks but stays interesting thanks to tempo and metre change-ups. Osaka Loop Line’s thick noise waves draw you in.

That said, don’t even consider listening to this – particularly Can You Discover? and Carby – if you hate Auto-Tune. LP regains control near the end with a neat cover of I Want You Back.
