It might've begun as a front porch pickin' party, but Nashville good ol' boys Tim O'Brien and Darrell Scott have turned an informal tune swap meet into one of the most entertaining un-country recordings released this year.
There are no fancy gimmicks or even a patch cord. Real Time is just two pals with four arms full of guitars, mandolins and banjos playing off each other's ideas -- along with a couple of Hank and Haggard favourites -- and enjoying the simple kick of making music for love, not money. That O'Brien and Scott both happen to be virtuosic string-benders doesn't hurt. www.howdyskies.com
