Were the overdue release of Slum Village's Fantastic Vol. 2 album not enough, along comes Best Kept Secret by J-88, another easy-flowing Detroit threesome produced by Jay Dee who sound more than a little like Slum themselves.
No one is officially saying that this is SV, but they might as well have. The short mini-LP is driven by some of Jay Dee's jazziest beats, including a slouching take on The Look Of Love, topped by three-way rhymes from a crew of soft-voiced, sex-obsessed MCs. Sound familiar? Call this Fantastic Vol. 3.
