The lunar reference in the album title and the monosyllabic waterfowl surname aren't the only things Guelph's Nick Craine has in common with Nick Drake. The first solo album by the Black Cabbage founder is a set of gorgeous, moody folk rock numbers. Producer Chris Marks helps create a backdrop of atmospheric guitar and orchestral arrangements for Craine's wistful lyrics, which are sung in a hushed voice. Genres from country to gospel resonate throughout, enhanced by layers of piano and organ and choral harmonies. Evocative songs you won't hear in a Volkswagen commercial. Craine plays the Horseshoe Wednesday (October 10).
