Having added a much-needed dose of soul to the glitch-pop scene with their excellent Tridecoder debut, Munich's Lali Puna up the ante with Scary World Theory. Again pairing the soothing purr of vocalist Valerie Trebeljahr with a constantly evolving backdrop of clicks, whirrs and synth stutters, the trio hit on a sound that's at once unsettling and surprisingly accessible. It's laptop music that's been cut to ribbons, but with a pure pop heart. The sleek and seamless man-machine fusion on Scary World Theory is precisely what Radiohead was desperately trying to get at with Kid A, only without the awkward pop-star posing. No wonder they're Lali Puna's biggest fans.
