Montreal rapper, ex-boxer and Brooklyn emigré 24K’s flow falls somewhere between Rah Digga and Heather B. Her solid talent has attracted some surprisingly big names to her debut. With production by Just Blaze, Swizz Beatz and appearances by Doug E. Fresh, Buckshot, Sadat X, Tragedy Khadafhi and Sean Price, Quotable’s pretty star-studded for a disc by a near unknown. This is almost a problem, particularly because the big-name production puts in busy beats that sometimes overwhelm her vocals. Quotable does showcase her strengths, but why keep dissing easy target Lil’ Kim? The main problem is the album’s bloated size. Rappers should listen to the GZA’s advice: keep it brief, son / half short / twice strong.
