McCartney plays the Air Canada Centre October 10.
Like any other self-respecting Beatles fan, I've always had a healthy hate for goody-goody Paul McCartney and his ditties, but I have to admit Chaos And Creation is a pretty decent disc. It's a stripped-down, introspective affair, and credit must go to Sir Paul and über-producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck) for keeping the studio trickery where it belongs. The real surprise is that halfway through I realized that I didn't want to blow my brains out. Old age must agree with him, because it now appears that McCartney has a level of soul and depth you'd never guess could come from someone who penned Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. Hope this doesn't mean I'm going to start liking James Taylor.
