I kinda wish I could've frozen the Slippery When Wet-era Bon Jovi in time so I wouldn't have to deal with him getting older. Alas, I am not God. It may be hard to tell whether we love the old Bon Jovi for real or ironic reasons; still, there doesn't seem to be one track on this disc with the classic power of Livin' On A Prayer, or even a ballad that compares with Wanted Dead Or Alive, but you never know, right? This is the expected good old American arena rock, with a few ballads and even a couple of country-tinged tracks. And something on this record - perhaps the mid-tempo Bells Of Freedom - will probably be a hit. Why? Because Bon Jovi is supposed to have hits. That's his job.
