Intelligent local purveyors of dunderhead thud get stoner-rock heavy on the second in their Government Issue Rock ‘N’ Roll series, borrowing liberally from the pre-metal bash and boogie of forgotten amp-melters like Cactus, Sir Lord Baltimore and Warpig, which is really their edge on the headbanging competition. Sadly, Tchort’s pointless inclusion of a limp cover of Iron Maiden’s hokey Number Of The Beast as a closer suggests that they haven’t yet realized they’re above it. Tchort celebrate 10 years with a CD release party at the Tequila Lounge Friday (April 26).
