The venerable institution of Motörhead (current lineup still Lemmy, Mickey Dee and Phil Campbell) returns with another solid chunk of rock and roll. Lemmy’s meatgrinder vocals are intact as he attacks his favourite warhorses with sing-along choruses atop Campbell and Dee’s thick, macho riffs, licks and beats. He doesn’t speed up and turn the material into an incoherent distorted piece of noise, something that could be learned by all those guys out there who think all you have to do to be heavy is pound shit out at warp speeds. You gotta have a little roll with your rock. Otherwise, it’s just noise. Lemmy takes a stab at some spoken-word on the track Serial Killer. He’s no John S. Hall, but it’s kinda fun. Motörhead are at the Docks Saturday (April 27).
