Discs: BABY BLUE SOUNDCREW

Rating: NN

Spending more time now securing clothing sponsorships than picking interesting tracks, T-dot’s top sound system, Baby Blue Soundcrew, return with their second big-budget mixed disc. There’s the usual blend of hiphop, dancehall and party-friendly R&B, as well as new and exclusive tracks by Jully Black, Solitair and Choclair, but, oddly, no actual mixing. Given the quartet’s influence in making and breaking tracks on a large scale, it’s surprising how dated most of the cuts here are. It’s hard to see how spinning Eminem’s The Way I Am and Dr. Dre’s The Next Episode can be seen as cutting edge.
