Discs: NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS

Rating: NN

Admirable though it may be that Nick Cave has decided to work through his compositional dry spell (don’t say writer’s block), listening to him reshaping Neil Young’s Helpless into a series of piano-based hymns to a silent god becomes tedious between the seventh and eighth time through. Hey, even Neil tosses in a Cortez The Killer now and again. And whatever happened to the Bad Seeds?
