Disappointed with being known as generic midwestern garage rock greebos, Cincinnati’s Greenhornes risk their street cred by throwing a few slow dancers into the mix. Both guitarists, Brian Olive and Craig Fox, can definitely put across a tune, and the bluesy ballads are handled competently enough with an Eric Burdon-style roughness. The question is whether anyone really wants to hear a more sensitive Greenhornes. Better bring a handkerchief if you plan to see the grief-stricken Greenhornes at the El Mocambo Friday (April 20).
