Album reviews Music

Discs: TRAVIS

Rating: NN

It’s hard to believe that not long ago, the soft rock sods in Travis were considered possible successors to Oasis. Now, Noel and Liam appear to be back and the Invisible Band seems more like a duel with Coldplay for the title of saddest power pop group. Heartbroken and pathetic, Fran Healy and crew strum minor chords and whine dramatically with high drama but no emotional weight, while producer Nigel Godrich brings out all his leftover Radiohead sound effects, but still can’t shoot much life into snoozy ballads like Dear Diary. If they keep this garbage up, Travis will become invisible.
